Wine and health

The beneficial effects of wine

Wine has specific properties that other alcoholic beverages don’t: a moderate daily consumption can have beneficial effects on health.

The colloquium organised under the aegis of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) in 2003 underlined the studies carried out over the last ten years in a selection of countries (United States, France, Denmark, Italy, The Netherlands).

They all concluded the protective effects of wine, not only against cardio-vascular disease but also cancer, diabetes, arthritis and illnesses resulting from degeneration of the brain such as Alzheimer’s.

According to these studies, moderate consumption of wine has a beneficial effect on different metabolisms in the body thanks to the wide variety of substances it contains.

Regular and moderate consumption

The beneficial effects of wine are demonstrated when wine is consumed on a regular basis.

This consumption must be shared equally daily.

According to the WHO (World Health Organisation) moderate consumption is around 3 glasses or around 30cl for a man and 2 glasses or around 20cl for a woman. This should preferably be during meals.

The abuse of alcohol is dangerous to health, please enjoy in moderation
